The exchange rate of the CFA for the Euro is fixed at 655.957 CFA for one Euro. For the US Dollar the exchange rate changes.

Cash machines are almost unknown in Western Africa, so it is better to take along enough cash for all your stay. Credit cards are seldomly accepted, so travellers should almost always pay their costs in cash. Traveller checks can be cashed at leading african banks in the larger cities.
